New Partnerships Mean A Brighter Future For South Atlanta
Jackie Dottin-Dodd (Angkor Resource Center), Randy Muth (Angkor Resource Center), Sean Bennett (DREAMWeavers Atlanta), Debbie Anglin (Hearts to Nourish Hope), Misty Novitch (DREAMWeavers Atlanta), and Irayda "Yayis" Marin (DREAMWeavers Atlanta).
As Humphrey Bogart might say, "This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship". Last week at Hearts to Nourish Hope in Riverdale, we opened our third center to be known as the Hearts Center. Beyond the usual fanfare and celebratory picture (seen above), a new set of partnerships was form in an effort to better meet the needs of the Riverdale community.
Randy Muth, Debbie Anglin, and the DREAMWeavers Atlanta team meet to iron out details of the shared partnership in an effort to provide a solid net of services that the community could call upon when in need. The miracle of the meeting was that all three organizations didn't replicate services that were currently offered, providing a perfect opportunity to "hand off" our dedicate members from one organization to another.
For example, an undocumented member of our community could take ESOL classes to learn English with the Angkor Resource Center, transfer to DREAMWeavers to pass the GED and get help filing Deferred Action paperwork, transfer then to Hearts to Nourish Hope for job training and placement, and then finish up with Angkor for naturalization help. A long the way there are several other opportunities that all three organizations provide, but the flow could easily be seamless.
On the very first night of the Hearts Center, DREAMWeavers had a student come in that needed Angkor to help with the naturalization process, and five minutes later, Angkor had a student who needed GED help from DREAMWeavers. It was there that an amazing partnership was born that could not be possible without the mentoring and guidance of Debbie Anglin from Hearts to Nourish Hope.
